Full Time General Manager

We are looking for a General Manager who is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the bar and café, ensuring that the team, systems, and service standards run smoothly without requiring direct oversight from ownership.

This role is accountable for organising and leading the supervisor team, maintaining high operational standards, and ensuring that service, stock, and programming are delivered reliably and to a high standard.

The General Manager reports directly to the owner and works closely with the Assistant Manager to ensure the venue operates efficiently, creatively, and consistently.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Accountability

  • Manage and organise the team of supervisors, ensuring each area of responsibility (events, cleanliness, organisation, etc.) is clearly structured and consistently developed.

  • Hold regular check-ins or meetings with supervisors to track progress, resolve issues, and ensure tasks are completed, and communicate what’s happening for the week ahead with all staff.

  • Take full responsibility for the day-to-day functioning of the venue so that ownership does not need to manage supervisors directly.

Events & Programming Oversight

  • Co-ord with the events manager to oversee the planning and promotion of all events to ensure they are properly organised, communicated, and executed.

Operations & Systems

  • Ensure tasks such as stock ordering, event listings, staff communication, and operational checks are consistently completed.

  • Work closely with the Assistant Manager on scheduling, stock control, and operational planning.

  • Take an active interest in the drinks and café offering, including wine, menu items, and product selection.

  • Maintain a sense of pride in what the venue serves and contribute ideas for improving the offering.

Creative Vision, Initiative, & Development

  • Bring taste, curiosity, and initiative to the role, contributing ideas for programming, menu development, and improving the venue.

  • Take ownership of implementing improvements rather than waiting for direction.

  • Support the ongoing development of the daytime café and identify opportunities to grow that side of the business.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong initiative, communication, organisational, and leadership skills

  • Experience managing teams in hospitality

  • Ability to create systems and ensure accountability

  • Good taste and pride in the product being served

  • Someone who is excited to shape and grow the venue

Reporting Structure

  • Reports directly to the Owner

  • Works closely with the Assistant Manager

  • Oversees the team of supervisors

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary of around £50,000 per annum including service charge (seasonal variation)

  • Monthly bonus structure related to both targets and KPI’s

  • Opportunity to shape the future of the bar, including hosting your own events, tickets sale revenue, etc.

  • Flexible working hours, time off, paid holiday

  • Staff activities, trips, wine tastings, dinners, drinks, etc.
